Secretariat of Public Education (SEP)

The Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) is a governmental body in Mexico committed to regulating and overseeing the educational system across the nation. One of its recent initiatives involves the strengthening of monitoring processes related to the preparation, distribution, and sale of food and drinks within schools.

In a collaborative effort with Cofepris, SEP is dedicated to ensuring that school cooperatives and shops adhere to new regulations that restrict the sale of sugary beverages. This initiative is in alignment with Mexico's front-of-package warning-label rules as set out under NOM-051, which aims to promote healthier dietary habits among students.
