National Livestock Mission
The National Livestock Mission is an initiative designed to support and advance the livestock sector in India. This mission plays a pivotal role in enhancing the availability of quality livestock breeds and ensuring sufficient feed resources for livestock across the country.
Breed Multiplication Farms and Fodder Seed Production
Under this mission, a total of 4,084 breed multiplication farms have been approved. These farms are instrumental in producing high-quality breeds that are essential for improving livestock productivity.
In addition to breed development, the mission has supported the production of 1.61 lakh metric tonnes of quality fodder seed. This effort addresses a crucial aspect of livestock management by ensuring that there is ample feed available to sustain healthy livestock populations.
Silage and Total Mixed Ration (TMR) Units
The mission has sanctioned 204 silage and Total Mixed Ration (TMR) units. These units are vital for providing balanced nutrition to livestock, which is necessary for maintaining their health and improving their productivity.
Impact in Jammu and Kashmir
The National Livestock Mission has made significant contributions in regions such as Jammu and Kashmir by providing financial assistance to enhance feed availability and livestock productivity.
