Milk Vita: Pioneering the Dairy Industry in Bangladesh

Milk Vita stands as Bangladesh's largest dairy cooperative, playing a crucial role in the country's dairy sector. As a cooperative, it provides a structured and supportive network for dairy farmers, ensuring that their contributions to the industry are recognized and rewarded.

Extensive Network

Operating through a robust network, Milk Vita connects with over 3,300 cooperative societies. This extensive reach is facilitated by 61 chilling centers strategically located across Bangladesh, which help in maintaining the quality and freshness of milk. Furthermore, the cooperative supports more than 300,000 dairy farmers spread across 57 districts, offering them a stable platform to market their products.

Recent Developments

Recently, Milk Vita raised its retail price for processed milk. The new price schedule sets the cost of a one-litre packet of processed milk at Tk 110, compared with Tk 100 previously. The cooperative also raised its procurement rate for milk containing at least 4% fat to Tk 53 per litre, from Tk 50 in the previous month. Milk Vita cited higher operating and energy costs alongside feed expenses as reasons for these changes.

Production and Demand

Despite the price changes and production costs, Milk Vita’s nationwide daily milk collection remains between 100,000 and 125,000 litres, while daily consumer demand is between 80,000 and 85,000 litres.
