Verka's Remarkable 14.79% Growth Driven by Dairy Product Demand
Verka, the consumer brand operated by Milkfed Punjab, reported a significant turnover of ₹551 crore for June 2026. This represents a 14.79% increase compared to the same month last year, when the turnover was ₹480 crore. The growth is attributed to a strategic emphasis on raw milk collection and an expansion of processing infrastructure.
The cooperative has seen an 11% increase in raw milk procurement, enhancing its network by nearly two lakh litres per day. This surge in milk collection is notable as it doubles the national average procurement growth rate in India, which stands at 5 to 6%.
Consumer demand for Verka's value-added products has also been a key growth driver. The brand witnessed a 94% increase in Table Butter volumes and a 213% rise in UHT Cream sales. Other products such as UHT Milk, Ice Cream, Tetra Pack Lassi, Ghee, and Dairy Whitener also experienced substantial sales growth.
To maintain its growth trajectory, the Punjab Government has pledged long-term investments to bolster Milkfed’s market leadership. These investments will focus on expanding cold-chain infrastructure, adopting advanced technologies, innovating products, and enhancing market penetration.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann highlighted that this revenue growth aligns with state goals to empower local agricultural suppliers and enhance rural asset liquidity. The cooperative dairy model is seen as crucial for creating jobs and empowering farmers, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality dairy products to meet domestic nutritional needs.
