Treveale Farm to Host RABDF NMR Gold Cup Open Day in Cornwall

Treveale Farm, located in Ladock, Cornwall, is preparing to host one of the UK's most significant on-farm dairy events, the RABDF NMR Gold Cup Open Day, scheduled for June 30. The farm, managed by Paul and Wendy Broad along with their family, will welcome dairy farmers from across the country to explore its operations and innovations.

The event promises to go beyond traditional farm tours by incorporating interactive talk stations, live demonstrations, and more than 30 trade stands. RABDF chairman Robert Craig highlighted the farm's continuous evolution and investment, noting that visitors will gain insights into its systems and future plans.

Treveale Farm spans 280 hectares and houses the Maymor Holstein herd, consisting of 471 cows and 461 youngstock. Significant investments have been made in recent years, including the construction of a new dairy facility in 2018 and a youngstock facility completed in 2023.

The open day will commence with an update on the milk market from industry analyst Chris Walkland. Attendees will then have the opportunity to learn from the Treveale team about system design, investment strategies, and future planning.

Throughout the day, technical sessions will address topics such as slurry management, herd health, Johne’s disease control, nutrition, and business planning. Visitors will also witness the operation of the farm's slurry separator.

To enhance the experience, the organizers will offer complimentary food and drink, including a whole ox roast, Cornish cream teas, and free ice cream. Although entry is free, attendees must register in advance.
