The Russian government resigns

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said after the President's address to the Federal Assembly today that the Cabinet of Ministers is resigning in full, reports The DairyNews.

"Mr Putin <...> outlined a number of fundamental changes to the Constitution <...>. In this context, it is obvious that we as a government <... we must give the President of our country the opportunity to make all the necessary decisions. And in these circumstances, I believe that it was right that, in accordance with article 117 of the Constitution, the current government should resign", he said at a meeting with the head of state after the address.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin thanked the Government for working together and announced his intention to introduce the post of Deputy Chairman of the Security Council and offer it to Medvedev.

In addition, the President proposed to introduce a number of changes - to consolidate the priority of the Constitution in the legal space of Russia.

To establish special requirements for government representatives. Putin proposed to establish that the heads of subjects, members of the Federation Council, State Duma deputies, the Prime Minister and his deputies, Federal Ministers, heads of other Federal bodies and judges couldn’t have foreign citizenship, a residence permit or other document that allows you to permanently reside on the territory of another state, TASS reports.
