The postponement of dates of labeling will depend on the readiness of printing houses -Artem Belov
‘It's hard to talk about it yet. We are still summing up the results of the experiment, which ended in December. The focus shifted slightly towards printing houses. This means that they should be more ready for the introduction of labeling. Of course, there are still a lot of questions for them. The information that comes from them and from manufacturers largely confirms that packaging suppliers are not ready to provide manufacturers with packaging with Data-matrix codes,’ said Artem Belov.
At the same time, he noted that the typographic method of application is a priority.
Products that are packed in Tetra Pak packages are dairy products for which labeling becomes mandatory on September 1 and December 1, depending on the nomenclature.
According to Artem Belov, the union is most concerned about the readiness of ice cream and cheese makers for mandatory labeling since July 1.
According to Artem Belov, due to the fact that large production lines with very complex technological solutions are presented at cold storage plants, printing houses and packaging suppliers should be ready for labeling by April 1, 2021.
As for the possibility of repeated postponements of dates of labeling, Artem Belov noted the following:
We are waiting for the results of the experiment, the readiness of the printing houses. As early as February, it will be clear how ready they are to apply the labeling codes. A lot will depend on this.
