Dairy Intelligence Agency (DIA) has developed and publishes a monthly "liquid" indicator of the purchasing power of Russians, the Liter Index. In December 2020, the Liter Index DIA rose due to an increase in nominal wages.

DIA analysts calculated the Liter Index based on Rosstat data on the monthly nominal salary of Russians and prices for drinking milk (whole, pasteurized, with a fat content of 2.5-3.2%), mineral and drinking water, and table grape wine with a strength of up to 14%. The Liter Index is the volume of drinking milk, water and wine in liters per month that Russians can buy on a salary.

If we convert the nominal salary of Russians for December 2020 into liters, we will get 1167.87 liters of drinking milk (40.12% more than in November 2020 and 8.27% more than in December 2019) or 1967.01 liters of drinking water (40% more than in November 2020 and 5.4% more than in December 2019) or 156.2 liters of wine (39.8% more than in November 2020 and 4.6% more than in December 2019). In addition, DIA analysts calculated how many liters of raw milk can be bought for a nominal salary per month based on the Dairy Index DIA, the Liter Index of raw milk was 2413.9 (38.9% more than in November 2020 and 2.8% more than in December 2019).
