Tackle Hunger, known for the Souper Bowl of Caring, collaborated with Dairy MAX to kick off National Dairy Month with a significant dairy distribution event at Colorado State University's Rams Against Hunger Pantry in Fort Collins, Colorado. This event marked a milestone in their ongoing partnership aimed at addressing food insecurity among students by stocking local food charities with dairy products.

The June 1 event was highlighted by a donation of 200 gallons of fresh milk from Morning Fresh Dairy to the CSU Rams Pantry. This effort is part of the Fill the Fridge campaign, a national initiative that facilitates dairy donations through the Tackle Hunger Map, directing nutritious dairy products to communities in need.

Alison Reese, Executive Director of Tackle Hunger, emphasized the importance of dairy, stating, "Dairy is the #1 most requested item at food charities nationwide — and one of the hardest to get." She noted that the partnership with Dairy MAX and other regional dairy councils aims to create a sustainable pathway for delivering dairy nutrition to families and students.

According to a survey by The Hope Center at Temple University, 29% of students at Colorado State University experienced food insecurity in the past 30 days, reflecting a broader national issue. An estimated 3.8 million college students across the United States face similar challenges, with dairy being a critical yet underrepresented item in campus food pantries.

The event featured live social media coverage during the pantry's service hours, engaging donors and raising awareness. Contributions made through the Tackle Hunger Map were matched up to $20,000, with donors entered into a drawing for CSU football tickets.

The Fill the Fridge campaign continues throughout June Dairy Month, allowing donors to support local food charities by designating their gifts for dairy purchases. Tackle Hunger's multiplier model ensures that each dollar donated significantly boosts support for food charities nationwide.

Dairy MAX represents dairy farmers in eight states, producing 15% of U.S. milk, and is committed to promoting dairy consumption for a healthier future. Morning Fresh Dairy, a family-owned business in Colorado, contributed to the event, reflecting their dedication to community support.
