Slata: there are problems with the implementation of labeling, but it will have to be worked with

The regional retail chain Slata believes that since ‘the decision to introduce digital labeling of dairy products was made at the legislative level, participants in the circulation of dairy products will only have to submit or leave the market,’ writes The DairyNews.

At the same time, the company notes that in their opinion, the undoubted advantage of the introduction of digital labeling is the ability to track the circulation of dairy products from raw materials to the shelf, so the product life cycle is absolutely transparent.

The retail chain noticed that the process of mandatory labeling has already been introduced for tobacco products and shoes. Since this is a completely new stage for all participants in the circulation of labeled products, the Slata retail chain was not an exception, having faced some problems both from suppliers and from the CATD.

- Some shoe suppliers were simply not ready to transmit labeling codes through EDO and, as it turned out, this process is paid. To date, we track the receipt of marking codes in manual mode in the personal account of the Honest mark system. In the near future, we plan to integrate our accounting system with the Honest mark system for receiving and transmitting labeling codes in order to eliminate manual verification, and perhaps the automation process will require investment of funds, said Yana Abalymova, Head of the company's press service.

The retail hain noted that the participation of Slata partners in the pilot experiment on the introduction of digital labeling among dairy suppliers involved the company Danone.

The start of mandatory labeling of dairy products is scheduled for 2021, and the entry of positions is carried out gradually. Therefore, within the retail chain we are working on preparedness - concluded Yana Abalymova.

At the same time, many market participants are not satisfied with the introduction of mandatory digital labeling, as this process negatively affects the economic component of both dairy producers and equipment manufacturers. Additional costs, cancellation of previously planned projects, and many other factors are associated with the introduction of digital labeling.

This week, the Ministry of industry and trade of Russia proposed new stages of introducing mandatory labeling of dairy products. It is assumed that manufacturers and importers of ice cream and cheese will be required to label their products since June 1, 2021.

For dairy products with a shelf life of more than 40 days, mandatory labeling requirements will come into force on September 1, 2021, and for dairy products with a shelf life of less than 40 days - on December 1, 2021. This was announced on Monday by Deputy Director of the Department of digital labeling of goods of the Ministry of industry and trade Oleg Tukhvatullin.

It is planned that market participants will start transmitting information about the withdrawal of dairy products from circulation since December 1, 2021, and since June 1, 2022, the requirements for transmitting information about circulation in terms of batch accounting will come into force. The introduction of mandatory piece-by-piece traceability is scheduled to begin on December 1, 2023.
