Saputo Dairy Partners with Eat Up to Provide 400,000 Cheese Slices for School Lunches
Saputo Dairy Australia (SDA) has announced a national partnership with the not-for-profit organization Eat Up to provide free lunches to children experiencing food insecurity. Through this partnership, SDA will supply more than 400,000 CHEER Tasty Cheese slices annually to Eat Up’s school lunch program. This initiative ensures that children across Australia have access to simple, nutritious food, helping them stay nourished and focused in class.
Currently, Eat Up supports over 1,200 schools across the country, delivering thousands of lunches each week. The demand for Eat Up's services has increased, with 68% of schools reporting a rise in students needing support. For many children, a cheese sandwich provides the necessary nutrition to concentrate and thrive at school.
SDA has been supporting Eat Up since 2024, with more than 350 employees preparing 18,000 sandwiches using donated Saputo products. Cam Bruce, SDA's Senior Vice President Commercial, stated that the expanded partnership reflects the company’s commitment to supporting communities in practical ways. He emphasized the importance of taking something as simple as a cheese sandwich and making it more impactful through their products and ongoing employee commitment.
Lyndon Galea, the founder and spokesperson for Eat Up, highlighted the significance of this partnership during a time of rising demand for their services. He noted that partnerships like the one with Saputo are crucial for maintaining the scale of their lunch deliveries without adding cost pressures to the program.
