Russia may ban meat and dairy import from Greece
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance may ban finished meat and milk products imported from Greece, this is according to spokesman Alexey Alexeyenko.
“Some violations were identified during an inspection of Greek livestock producers. The most unacceptable fact for us is that we have received products which were not approved for import into the Customs Union member countries. The products imported were not only of Greek origin, but from other countries, as well,” he said.
“In the near future, we are to decide on such organizations. As the violations occur systematically, we would like to discuss them with Greece’s veterinary service to understand how they are going to solve the problem.”
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance insists on the urgent start of negotiations with their Greek colleagues, he said.
