Poles bought more fresh dairy products in early 2026
Polish consumers increased their purchases of fresh dairy products in the first six months of 2026. NielsenIQ recorded a 4.1% rise in sales volume and a 7% increase in sales value across the category.
Natural yoghurt was the fastest-growing product mentioned in the data. Its volume increased by 12.7%, while its value rose by 18.3%. Drinking yoghurt also expanded, with volumes growing by almost 12% during the period.
Danone linked the development to greater consumer interest in convenience, straightforward ingredients and nutritional benefits. The company also identified high-protein products, including skyr, as gaining popularity among shoppers.
The difference between the category’s volume growth and its value growth was mainly associated with consumers moving towards more expensive products. The data did not attribute the higher market value primarily to price increases.
Plant-based dairy alternatives recorded growth as well. Their sales volume rose by 2.3% in the first half of 2026, while the value of sales increased by 6.3%.
The figures cover fresh dairy products and related plant-based alternatives sold in Poland during the first half of 2026. NielsenIQ supplied the market data, while Danone provided the explanation concerning consumer preferences and the increased interest in high-protein products.
