Moscow region may become a leader in cheese production in Russia in 2022 -Governor

Enterprises of Moscow region for the production of cheese by 2023 will become leaders in the production of this product among the regions of Russia, this task is set by the regional authorities, said the Governor of Moscow region Andrey Vorobyov.

‘Our task, the key task ( ... ) is to become leaders in Russia in terms of cheese production in 2022’,

Vorobyov explained that we are talking about developing the business of both large enterprises and farmers' cheese factories.

The Governor also noted that the regional authorities are betting on the development of cheese production as one of the main processors of milk. In Moscow region, milk production has been increasing in recent years, with a plan to increase the annual volume of milk to 1 million tons.

‘If there is milk, it should be consumed. And cheeses are the products that allow you to process milk,’ Vorobyov explained.

In Moscow region, the construction of enterprises of the cheese cluster ("Cheese valley") is currently underway. It is planned to be completed in 2022-2023.
