Merlin robots have been put in operation in Udmurtia
The equipment is imported, of the English brand Fullwood Merlin. It has been installed on a new farm, which was opened at the end of 2018 – this is the first stage of the dairy complex for 140 cows. The adaptation of cows to the new system is easy, say local experts.
The robots Merlin work carefully; they ensure safe, reliable and efficient milking, preparing the teats for milking and treating them after milking, with brushes and cleaning solution, they also provide feed to cows. The main thing is a robot arm equipped with a laser system, control and sensor devices. Thanks to what it is capable to make three-dimensional movements.
The computer, interface, software are also mandatory elements, because the robot determines the content of fat, protein and milk sugar in the milk of each cow, evaluates the condition of each quarter of the udder. Clean milk goes to the milk tank, substandard milk - to a separate container.
The farm is serviced only by two operators – milk is received without milkmaids, in other words, "stress-free". Animals choose the mode and frequency of milking, feeding and resting. One robot milks up to 70 cows.
At "Rodina" farm they have already started the construction of the second stage of the robotic farm, where there will be two Merlin milking robots. It is planned to be put in operation in record time – in the autumn 2019. On the other side of the farm there will be started the construction of a modern lagoon for the collection and storage of manure.
