Labeled dairy products have been delivered to retail chains in all regions of Russia - Anna Orlova
Since December 1, dairy products with a short shelf life are subject to digital labeling in Russia. Previously, it was introduced for cheeses, ice cream and dairy products with a shelf life of more than 40 days, Orlova reminded.
‘Labeled dairy products are supplied to retail chains in all regions in sufficient volumes and a wide range. We do not see any risks of deficit formation,’ Orlova said.
She added that this was facilitated by the phased introduction of labeling and a preliminary experiment. In addition, retail chains opened their own laboratories before labeling, where companies could check the quality of the application of codes, their readability, data accuracy and make sure that products could be sold by retail outlets without problems.
Mandatory labeling of dairy products with a shelf life of 40 days or less began in Russia on December 1. Previously, digital labeling of dairy products began in Russia on June 1, 2021 for the cheese and ice cream categories. Since September 1, the requirements have become mandatory for products with a shelf life of more than 40 days. For farmers who will sell products directly or through retail, labeling will become mandatory since December 1, 2022.
