Starting from September 19, 2026, Kazakhstan has imposed temporary restrictions on the import and transit of livestock products from the Russian regions of Omsk, Tyumen, Moscow, and Irkutsk. The measures affect live animals, meat, dairy products, feed, and several types of raw materials.
Kazakhstan Implements Restrictions on Importing Russian Livestock and Meat Products

The restrictions apply to supplies from the territories of four Russian regions. This was reported by Rosselkhoznadzor with reference to a letter from the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan. The decision came into effect on September 19, 2026, and concerns both the import and transit of products through Kazakhstani territory.

For the Omsk and Tyumen regions, a separate list of goods prohibited from being transported has been established. This includes live pigs and boar sperm, as well as pork, including wild boar meat, and its processed products, unless they have undergone thermal processing.

The restrictions for these two regions also cover leather, horn-hoof, intestinal raw materials, bristles, and hunting trophies obtained from animals susceptible to corresponding diseases. The measures affect used equipment for transporting pigs, animal keeping, slaughtering, and cutting.

Regarding feed and feed additives from the Omsk and Tyumen regions, restrictions apply to products of both plant and animal origin, including those made from poultry and fish. Additives for cats and dogs not subjected to thermal processing are specifically mentioned.

For the Moscow and Irkutsk regions, Kazakhstan restricted the movement of live agricultural animals and their genetic material. The list also includes meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, other animal-origin goods without thermal processing, as well as unprocessed raw materials and products derived from them.

In these two cases, the measures extend to used equipment for keeping and slaughtering agricultural animals and processing slaughter products, as well as to hunting trophies. The restrictions affect animal feeds and feed additives but provide exceptions for products that have undergone thermal processing, plant-based feeds, and additives of chemical and microbiological synthesis.
