Consumption of dairy products increased during the pandemic in the UK, reports The DairyNews with reference to materials Dairyreporter.com. However, analysts are cautiously assessing the prospects of the dairy market in the country.

The representative of Arla Foods Jonathan Dixon stated this during the online Dairy-Tech conference.

‘The increase in the number of people working from home has led to the situation when more people turned to dairy products to take care of themselves and their health during the pandemic. Cheese consumption increased by 15.7%. Sales of yogurt increased by more than 4%, butter - by 16.1%,’ said the expert.

Rob Hutchinson, Chief Operating manager of Müller, said in turn that the company recorded a significant increase in retail sales throughout the lockdown period.

‘Our task is to maintain the level of consumption when the whole country comes out of the pandemic,’ said the representative of Müller.
