Heat Waves Boost Mother Dairy's Summer Product Sales by Over 30%

Mother Dairy has reported a substantial increase in sales of its summer products, such as ice creams, buttermilk, and curd, driven by intense heat waves across the country. Sales have surged by over 30% this summer season. Dr. Meenesh Shah, chairman of the National Dairy Development Board and Mother Dairy, stated that this growth trend has been noticed over the past three to four years, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Shah highlighted a growing preference among consumers for trusted and hygienic brands, which has benefited Mother Dairy. He mentioned that at times the demand exceeds the company's capacity to supply. Despite the increased demand, the company does not plan to raise product prices in the near future, having recently raised milk prices by Rs 2 per litre as of May.

Furthermore, Dr. Shah noted the geopolitical issues that have led to a 30-35% increase in input costs for packaging materials and some raw materials. However, Mother Dairy is currently absorbing these costs to avoid burdening consumers with price hikes.

In line with its commitment to sustainability, Mother Dairy has launched a naturally degradable milk pouch, starting with its Cow Milk variant in the Delhi-NCR region. This new packaging innovation is designed to decompose in soil within a few years, aligning with the company's mission to promote a sustainable ecosystem without impacting consumer prices.

Looking forward, Mother Dairy plans to introduce healthy products focusing on high-protein and low- to no-sugar offerings to capitalize on the ongoing health trends. The company remains dedicated to enhancing nutrition and environmental sustainability, as emphasized by Dr. Shah.
