GEA Unveils New KOB High Pressure Homogenizers for Efficient Production
GEA has launched its new KOB series of homogenizers, which are designed to provide small and medium-scale production plants with industrial-grade performance at a competitive investment level. The series includes models 11, 22, 45, and 90, all delivering up to 400 bar of pressure. These homogenizers are intended for a wide range of food and beverage applications, including homogenizing and feeding spray dryers.
The KOB series features an optimized mechanical construction that ensures lower noise levels and simplified maintenance access. The machines are engineered for efficient power use, offering a high-pressure design suitable for demanding, moderately viscous, and abrasive applications. Additionally, they are available with higher-efficiency homogenizing valve technology and more wear-resistant materials.
Standard configurations of the KOB series include wear-resistant parts, making them an economical choice for non-abrasive products. For more abrasive formulations, optional high-wear-resistant materials can extend the service life of the equipment. The compact architecture of the KOB series is achieved through an optimized crankcase and gear-reducer design, which enhances mechanical efficiency while minimizing heat, noise, and vibration.
Another advantage of the KOB series is its minimal reliance on auxiliary components, as the drive compartment does not require oil cooling or forced-air ventilation. This results in lower installation, maintenance, energy, and utility demands. The use of poppet-type pumping valves improves flow characteristics and feeding stability, reducing noise and cavitation and enhancing volumetric efficiency.
The KOB homogenizers are available with Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Steam-In-Place (SIP) capabilities and can be configured to meet 3-A sanitary standards. They feature steamable full-stroke barrier chambers for aseptic product handling. The machines can also be equipped with a second-stage pressure gauge and pressure transmitters for process automation and control.
The series supports a wide range of automation levels, from simple motor-starter solutions to full PLC/HMI control. Connectivity options allow seamless integration into SCADA and plant-wide automation systems, providing processors with flexibility in digitalization.
