Five Companies Dominate 92.4% of Chile's Milk Market in Early 2026

The Chilean dairy industry demonstrated a high level of market concentration in the first four months of 2026. According to data compiled by Fedeleche and the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa), the top five processors received 92.4% of all milk in the industry.

During the January to April period, the national intake of raw milk reached 789.9 million liters, marking a 4% increase from the previous year and an addition of 30.6 million liters compared to the same period in 2025.

Colún maintained its leadership by increasing its market share from 32.6% to 34%. The cooperative received 268.3 million liters, which is 20.6 million liters more than the previous year.

Soprole-Prolesur remained the second-largest milk buyer in the country, raising its intake by 4.9% to 217.6 million liters. This growth increased its market share from 27.3% to 27.6%, driven by a 10.1 million-liter increase.

Nestlé Chile took third place with an intake of 96.6 million liters, reflecting a 0.8% annual increase and maintaining a market share close to 12.2%.

Watt’s was fourth, receiving 80.8 million liters, experiencing a 2% decrease in volume, equivalent to 1.6 million liters less than the same period the previous year. Its market share dropped from 10.8% to 10.2%.

Quillayes-Surlat completed the top five, holding approximately 8.4% of the market share, remaining one of the leading players in the sector.

In April alone, industrial milk intake reached 189.9 million liters, a 2.7% increase compared to April 2025. Colún led this growth with 66.4 million liters, a 6.9% rise, while Soprole-Prolesur increased its intake by 4.8% to 51.9 million liters.

The data indicates that the primary industries have maintained their competitive positions while accompanying the growth in milk production seen in Chile during the early months of 2026.
