EEC extended an 18.3% customs duty on dairy products until the end of August

The Eurasian Economic Commission made a decision to extend an 18.3% customs duty on butter, dairy spreads, other fats and oils derived from milk, and curd until 31 August 2013.

The Eurasian Economic Commission made a decision to extend an 18.3% customs duty on butter, dairy spreads, other fats and oils derived from milk, and curd until 31 August 2013.

Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan increased import duties on butter, curd, some cheeses and several other dairy products on 1 of April from 15% to 18.3%, the duties were initially valid until 30 June inclusive.

Decision to increase the duty was provoked by increased dairy imports and feed prices growth. According to Andrey Slepnev, EEC Minister for Trade, the measure will increase competition capacity and profitability of dairy producers and will allow to enlarge volumes of raw milk processing in CU countries.
