Dulce de Leche & Co Wins Best Dulce de Leche at Caminos y Sabores 2026
The 2026 edition of Caminos y Sabores honored Dulce de Leche & Co with the Best Dulce de Leche award, a prestigious accolade that the company has now earned three times. The competition, Experiencias del Sabor, brought together a jury of experts and students from the National University of Quilmes to conduct sensory evaluations and taste tests to determine the winners across various categories.
According to Luis González, co-founder of Dulce de Leche & Co with his brother Matías Bruno, their product is made using a simple recipe of milk, sugar, and bicarbonate, aiming to highlight the lacteous taste rather than an overly sweet flavor. González stated, "We aim for a lacteous aftertaste that is not excessively sweet, so it appeals to everyone."
Winning this award guarantees the company a place in the next edition of Caminos y Sabores, one of the main gatherings for regional foods in Argentina. The journey of Dulce de Leche & Co started in 2016 when the brothers left their banking jobs to focus on crafting dulce de leche. Initially, they marketed products from small producers, but by 2021, they opened their own production plant and expanded their offerings to include alfajores and other derivatives.
Currently, Dulce de Leche & Co operates 11 stores in Buenos Aires and one in Santa Fe. The company is also working on international expansion, with plans to open a distribution center in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in August. The goal is to produce alfajores in Brazil with dulce de leche made in Argentina, leveraging the prestige and quality of Argentine ingredients. "Argentine dulce de leche is our differentiator, and we want to bring it to the world," the founders remarked.
In addition to their success with dulce de leche, Dulce de Leche & Co also won the top prize in the Alfajor de Autor category at the Copa Alfajor Argentino. Their winning alfajor featured a cocoa dough, dulce de leche filling, a crunchy coconut core, and a semi-bitter chocolate coating.
Other winners at the Caminos y Sabores 2026 included Fermier for semi-hard cow's cheese, Cagnoli for coarse-cut salami, Familia Saleme for extra virgin olive oil, I Love Mate for yerba mate con palo, Praderas Neuquinas for honey, and Eternal for gin.
