Costco Canada has issued a nationwide recall of Lactantia UltraPūr 2% M.F. 20g Protein & Lactose Free Milk due to over-fortification of Vitamins A and D. The product, sold in standard two-litre cartons, is marked with a best-before date of June 22, 2026, and is identified under item number 1987085 in Costco's inventory systems.

The recall affects products distributed across both traditional Costco warehouses and specialized Costco Business Centres between May and June 2026. The excessive fortification was discovered during routine safety checks, revealing vitamin levels significantly above the federal recommended daily intake limits. This poses potential health risks, including hypercalcemia, due to the toxicity of fat-soluble vitamins.

Lactalis Canada, the producer of Lactantia, confirmed that the issue is isolated to this specific high-protein milk lot and does not impact other products under the Lactantia brand. In response, corporate health authorities have advised consumers, foodservice operators, and distributors to stop using, selling, or serving the affected milk immediately.
