Chile to Finalize Report on Bolivia's Dairy Imports in 20 Days

The Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero (SAG) of Chile will release the final audit report on five Bolivian dairy plants within the next 20 days. This process is crucial for Bolivia to begin exporting milk and derivatives to the Chilean market. This announcement was made by Miguel Quiroz, director of the Servicio Nacional de Sanidad Agropecuaria e Inocuidad Alimentaria (Senasag), following a technical visit by a Chilean commission between March 24th and April 4th.
The SAG auditors assessed three plants of the Empresa Boliviana de Alimentos y Derivados (EBA) and two plants operated by the private company Pil Andina. They emphasized the "great potential" of the newly constructed state facilities for processing and transforming milk, along with the technical team's commitment to ensuring the safety of products, such as ultra-high-temperature (UHT) pasteurized milk.
"The final report will be delivered in 20 days, following international protocols. The auditors expressed satisfaction with the observed processes, which is a positive advancement," explained Quiroz during a press conference. Once the favorable report is received, Bolivia can start regular exports of UHT milk, cheeses, and other derivatives to Chile, facilitating market diversification for its growing dairy production.
Quiroz highlighted that this milestone represents years of efforts in enhancing infrastructure and technical training, in alignment with state policies to strengthen food sovereignty and foreign trade. Meanwhile, Senasag remains in coordination with SAG to expedite proceedings and ensure timely results in a process that could prove pivotal for the national dairy industry's future.
