Cheese production increased by 10%in Moscow region in 2020

About 47.5 thousand tons of cheese were produced by enterprises of Moscow region in the first nine months of 2020, which is more than in the same period last year, reported the press service of the Ministry of agriculture and food of the region to Interfax.

‘The volume of production of cheeses and cheese products for the first nine months of this year in the region amounted to about 47.5 thousand tons. Compared to the same period last year, production increased by more than 10%,’ the Ministry quoted acting Minister of agriculture and food of the region Sergey Voskresensky as saying.

He added that Moscow region is now the second largest producer of cheese in Russia.

There are 20 large cheese production facilities in the region, and about 100 farmers are also involved in this. They produce more than 200 types and varieties of cheese.

The Moscow region produces hard, semi-hard and soft cheeses, processed, mature and fast, blue cheeses with mold and savory taste, dietary, vegetarian and others.

Over the past year, 63.3 thousand tons of cheese were produced in Moscow region.
