‘Business is actively preparing for the introduction of labeling of dairy products with a short shelf life. Now, almost 100% of manufacturers have connected to the system. The enterprises have ordered the necessary equipment, commissioning works are underway,’ the press service quotes the words of the head of the Milk commodity group of CATD Alexey Sidorov.
He noted that the Nenets Autonomous District, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, Chukotka, Mordovia, Altai Republic, Karachay-Cherkessia, Jewish Autonomous region, Chechnya, Novgorod, Amur, Astrakhan and Magadan regions became the leading regions in terms of the pace of connection of producers before the start of the third stage.
‘Representatives of the regional agro-industrial complex of Krasnodar region, the republics of Bashkortostan and Udmurtia, Kaliningrad, Vologda, Tambov and Moscow regions also announced their readiness to start mandatory labeling,’ the press service added.
Mandatory labeling of milk began in Russia on June 1, 2021 in the categories of cheeses and ice cream. On September 1, the requirements for dairy products with a shelf life of more than 40 days came into force, and since December 1, they will become mandatory for goods with a shelf life of 40 days or less.
