A list of printing houses ready for labeling has been published

They reported that now, 10 printing houses are already ready to work, the list of which includes such Russian companies as Liton, Firma Sigma, White, Present Upakovka, Multifex, Edas Pak, and Polypak. The list also includes 3 Belarusian printing houses: FLEX-N-ROLL PRO, Flexoforce and Lamifoil.

According to the CATD, the list of printing houses planning to complete the equipment in the 1st quarter of 2021 includes 32 companies: Aurika, Controlny packet, Art Flex, Bora, Liton and others.

‘Of course, we are still in the process of adaptation, as the activities are layered on top of each other: we have both ongoing work on orders and printing of codes. It is important to test the process actively, since the number of nuances that may arise during implementation is not fully known yet. It will be better if all possible problems are identified and resolved in advance. This is my personal wish to all participants of the circulation,’ said the director and owner of the company Liton Lyubov Guseva.

As for the activities of the support systems, the expert noted the following:

‘Representatives of the Honest Mark system certainly try to help printing houses, and now, in my opinion, it is very important not to push into the background the issues with the personal account and data transfer. It is not clear, for example, how the system will be able to withstand the load. It is very important that it does not happen as with the "Mercury": everyone entered the system at once, and there were difficulties.

According to the CATD, it is likely that large packaging companies will finally be ready to start the labeling process in the 2nd quarter of 2021. This list includes: Neo-Pak, Elopak (Ukraine), Tetra-Pak, Uniflex, Polypak, Parma Flex and others. It is worth noting that at the time of publication of the material, the company Tetra-Pak did not provide an operational comment.

Manufacturers note that the most convenient way to apply codes is typographic.

‘We have come to the conclusion that the preferred method of applying codes is typographic. Since even if you apply the codes with your own equipment in production, from 1 to 3.5% of the products are not read. At the same time, there are almost no errors in the typographic method, and the scanning result reaches about 100%,’ said the representative of Sverdlovsk Refrigerating Plant No.3 Igor Meshcheryakov.

‘In terms of production processes, we see a large decrease in productivity in case of the need to replace materials. Thus, the production cycle is reduced. Therefore, if it is possible to use a typographic method of applying codes, this is good,’ said Evgeny Kalinin, IT Director of Valio.

However, many participants believe that in the period of maximum activity of the process of introducing mandatory digital labeling, most printers will be overloaded, so producers should hope not only for a printing method of applying the codes, but for their own strength and label the packaging with the help of printers.

Earlier, we wrote that at the end of 2020, the dates for the introduction of mandatory digital labeling were postponed to June 1, 2021 (for cheeses and ice cream), to September 1 (for dairy products with an expiration date of more than 40 days) and to December 1 (for products with an expiration date of 40 days or less).

The voluntary introduction of digital labeling started in Russia on January 20.
