Global renewable energy company Orsted has entered into a landmark lease agreement with Green hills farm, one of Ireland's largest dairy farms, situated in east Cork.

The agreement aims to explore renewable energy production at the farm, aligning with Orsted's plans to develop a 250 MW solar project capable of powering at least 52,000 homes.

TJ Hunter, Vice President Onshore Ireland & UK, stated that the agreement is 'a significant milestone', initiating the journey of developing a renewable energy project at the site.

The solar energy project is part of Orsted's broader agenda to meet Ireland's 8 GW solar energy target by 2030. The Browne family, who run Greenhills, express their pride in contributing to Ireland's renewable energy future.

Orsted's current portfolio includes 373 MW of onshore wind in Ireland, and a solar development pipeline exceeding 700 MW, showcasing its commitment to sustainable energy. TJ Hunter invites community engagement as the project progresses.
